The writing biz is ramping up. I will be writing the cover article for the trade publication, Principal Brokers. My first article for them comes out in the December issue - look for that.

And lastly, can anyone tell me what "Fun for the Whole Family" means? Over the weekend on KWJJ 99.5 in Portland, they were talking about a Halloween event/promotion and used that phrase half a dozen times. What if it were "Fun for Mom Only" or "Fun for Your Aunt Louise and Uncle Kenny". I don't get it. Is there a more ridiculous marketing tagline than "Fun for the Whole Family"? I'm pretty sure there's not.

Good Morning!

It's been a crazy week. I had an article printed in the Daily Journal of Commerce just click on "Design Special Section" and then "The Future's So Bright" to read my piece. Also, if you haven't checked, my dairy-free smoothie recipe appeared on Wired Berries.

I've also started writing a blog for Women OUT LOUD a new blog/webcast hosted by OregonLive.com. Check it out here. The editor at OregonLive.com is something else. He was babbling on and on to me the other day about how to write a blog (hello, I'm a writer?!) and I said to him, "I'm not a moron." To which he replied, "Oh yeah, where did you go to school?"

Where did I go to school??? As if that matters or is an indicator of whether or not I'm a moron? Besides being completely disgusted with this man, I realized that 'schoolism' is just another form of prejudice that shows up in our society. It's as if the pecking order is: being judged by color of your skin, your sexual preference, or when all else fails - what university you went too.

This type of "us vs. them" mentality irritates me to no end. It's just another way that humans try to separate themselves from one another.

Needless to say, there is no way to tell how long I'll be writing this blog with that kind of ridiculous attitude wandering around, but I'm there for now. Also, you'll see a new picture of me with my best friend Jen. We went out dancing this weekend (more on that later). I dyed my hair back to my natural color (sort of). It's pretty dark. Let me know what you think. :)

It's been awhile since my last post. My schedule got a bit out of hand. I had my 10-Year Class Reunion, which I planned (Go Mooks!). And lately writing assignments are coming in fast and furious. I even have a recipe coming out soon.

With all of that, it made me realize how important celebration is. Too often, our success passes us by (10 years out of high school and actually doing something with one's life, comes to mind) and there is no glorious party or honorary pat on the back. And life is just better with a party. Quite a few parties, actually. :)

Everywhere I turn, the people in my life are attracting success. My best friend of 10 years, Jen recently quit a job she liked to complete her education and live her dream - teaching elementary school. One of my other Jen friends (I have about 4) is a life coach and has so many clients that she can no longer take on any more! How exciting is that?! These two women inspire me. Life is not about doing what other people tell you to do. Life is about living your dream. Being surrounded by women who are living their dream, brings me more inspiration than I ever thought possible.

To aid in my inspiration, I've discovered Wayne Dyer. If you aren't familiar with his work, please visit: www.drwaynedyer.com His entire premise is that our thoughts control our reality. So, when we change the way we look at life, our life changes. I wrote about this recently in Christine Hassler's September newsletter: http://list.namasteinteractive.com/content/23203/SeptemberFull06.htm. I also saw Wayne on Monday when he spoke at the Portland Expo Center. I was able to meet him and have him autograph my book. It was most definitely one of the highlights of the week.

And the trend of inspiration continues on - this weekend I watched The Secret. If you haven't watched this movie, I highly encourage you to do so. It is life changing and provides a quick shot of inspiration for any of the dreams you want to make a reality in your life. Self-proclaimed "realists" may tell you that the law of attraction isn't for real, but don't listen to them. Every single thing that is in your life right now is because you created it. With that knowledge is the empowerment to attract exactly what you want into your life. I'm seeing it in my own life. It's exciting!
