Dairy-Free, Refined Sugar-Free RAW Chocolate

Sorry for the delay folks - I had company in town last weekend.

Here is a great chocolate recipe - it's a rich, decadent fix for chocolate cravings and with the agave nectar - won't spike your blood sugar. Also, I often double this recipe for a thicker chocolate bar. Enjoy!

1/2 c coconut oil
1/2 c agave nectar
1/2 c organic cacao powder (carob powder would work too)
1 t vanilla extract
1/4 c chopped almonds (walnuts, pecans - or any nut you prefer) - optional
1/4 c shredded coconut (unsweetened) - optional

Blend all ingredients in food processor or blender until mixture is smooth, except for almond chunks. Pour into an 8x8 pan or round cake pan. Put in freezer for 1.5 hours or until set. Keep in freezer and cut bars out as needed.

Happy Eating!
Heather :)

Is there anyway to make this more low fat? I can't have much fat in my diet (along with refined sugars and milk, gluten etc) and this recipe looks good but wondering if there is something I can sub for at least half the oil or ???? Thanks

Good question!
You could leave out the oil all together and see how that worked...let me know! You could do that and increase the agave by a bit. OR, cut oil in 1/2...

Let me know if you try either.

LOVED THIS!
And the best part is that you keep it in the freezer so you aren't too tempted all the time to eat it.

Here's a question: What would be good to use in the place of Agave Nectar? I have the other ingredients on hand but I don't have the Agave. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

If you don't freeze it and just set it in the fridge, it becomes fudge!!!

Wow these look amazing, thanks to Michele for posting a link to here on her facebook....I make something really similar to these, I call them Raw Vegan Chocolate Freezer Brownies. The major difference in mine is the addition of dates, and no coconut oil.

Question, can you taste the coconut oil? I am not a big fan..sorry :( Or could you skip it do you think?

The smoothness of these looks incredible.

I just found your blog, sweet!

If I wanted to substitue the agave nectar for Xylitol do you know how much I should use?

Thank you
